2013-14 Panini Crusade: Giannis's Rookies #122 and the Crusade Insert #61
2013-14 Panini Crusade holds two different Giannis Antetokounmpo cards people confuse: the RC-flagged Rookies card at #122, and the Crusade insert at #61 with its numbered colour ladder. Here's which is which, the verified print runs, and how to buy either safely on eBay.
2013-14 Panini Crusade is a standalone product, not an insert line inside another set, and it holds three different Giannis Antetokounmpo cards that listings routinely blur together. Getting them straight is the whole job on this page, because the price gap between them is large and the card numbers are the only reliable way to tell which one you are looking at.
The three Giannis cards in 2013-14 Panini Crusade
Rookies #122 — the RC-flagged card. This is the Giannis card the checklist marks as a rookie card. Base is unnumbered; above it sit Silver /25, Gold /10 and Black 1/1.
Crusade insert #61 — the one most people mean. The Crusade subset that gives the product its name. It is a rookie-year card (2013-14 was his rookie season) but it is not RC-flagged. It carries the deepest colour ladder of the three:
| Parallel | Print run |
|---|---|
| Blue | unnumbered |
| Red | /349 |
| Teal | /249 |
| Orange Die Cut | /99 |
| Purple | /49 |
| Gold | /10 |
| Green | /5 |
| Black | 1/1 |
A separate promo version, The National Crusade Blue #61, was issued for the National Sports Collectors Convention.
Apprentice Signatures #24 — the autograph. A genuine rookie-year certified Giannis signature: base unnumbered, Silver /49, Gold /10, Black 1/1.
Why the “die-cut rookie” shorthand misleads
Crusade gets described across the hobby as “the die-cut Giannis rookie”, and that packs two errors into four words. The RC-flagged Crusade card is #122, not the #61 insert; and within #61 the parallel the checklist actually names as die-cut is the Orange Die Cut /99, not the whole colour run. If you are paying up for a shaped card, look at the shape in the photograph — don’t take it from the word “Crusade” in a title.
Where these fit in the rookie ladder
The mainstream 2013-14 Giannis rookies form a clean ladder: the base Panini #194 (in that set’s Rookies subset) and NBA Hoops #275 are the affordable, high-print entry points; Prestige #175 is the mid-tier step; Select #178 is the premium chrome middle; and the flagship Prizm #290, with its Silver Prizm, sits at the top. Crusade sits alongside that ladder rather than on a rung of it — #122 for the card that carries the RC flag, #61 for the design piece with the deepest colour chase, #24 for a rookie-year signature.
Buying it safely
Match the card number first, then the parallel, then the serial. The moment you step up to a numbered colour, the Orange Die Cut, or the Apprentice Signatures auto, treat it like any premium card: Giannis is a heavily counterfeited modern player, so buy it already slabbed (PSA, BGS, or SGC) so authenticity and condition are guaranteed, and always compare sold comps rather than asking prices. Die-cut edges also show whitening and chipping more readily than straight-cut ones, so on an Orange Die Cut inspect the corners closely.
